A journey to India
After spending 4 months in an ashram in India, one of the questions I’m asked most frequently is why I was drawn there in the first place. People associate India with poverty and dirt, but easily overlook the richness in culture and spirit and the dreamlike splendor of the country and its people. In my eyes, India is one of the most incredible contradictions. You can witness extremely disgusting and magnificent sites in the same moment. A perfect example was while sitting in the sand, watching dolphins frolic in the water, a local fisherman walked about 10 yards in front of me and proceeded to use that same sand as his toilet. There was really only one metaphor I could take away from it all: life can be shitty at times, but you have to look beyond the crap to see the beauty that is always surrounding you.
