We're Climate Neutral Certified
...
We are proud to share that we are Climate Neutral certified for the third year in a row.
Reversing climate change is a BIG challenge and we can’t do it alone. We believe that businesses have the power to make real, meaningful progress in securing a low-climate future and the Climate Neutral certification brings together like-minded companies that want to make a difference. This certification helps brands measure their carbon footprint, understand it and make plans to reduce it.
The 3-step process to become Climate Neutral certified is simple: measure, offset, reduce. That means that we have to measure our entire carbon footprint for the previous year (in this case 2021), support projects that help recapture or reduce our carbon footprint AKA offsets, and then make plans to reduce our footprint.
Our 3 Step Process
MEASURE
The first step to becoming Climate Neutral certified is measurement. We measure our onsite and supply chain emissions in accordance with the GHG protocol. Our direct and indirect onsite emissions only make up about 4% of our overall footprint while our supply chain emissions account for about 96%.
Our 2021 Carbon Footprint was 31,899 metric tons of CO2e.
OFFSET
We focused on choosing a combination of projects that help actively reduce and recapture carbon emissions from the environment. To help us do that, we partnered with Pachama & 3Degrees to offset our 2021 footprint.
We offset our 2021 footprint by supporting the following projects:
Chestnut Mountain Improved Forest Management Project
Pachama is an offset company who's mission is to restore nature to solve climate change. Among their many projects, the The Chestnut Mountain project is located in central Tennessee and focuses on climate conscious forest management and practices that focus on forest health. As the surrounding areas have been heavily cut down for decades, this area now serves as a critical area of conservation for a diverse group of native plants and animals. Thanks to the Chestnut Mountain project we were able to offset 13,500 (mt of CO2e).
Dempsey Ridge Wind (USA)The Dempsey Ridge Wind project is a renewable energy wind farm located in Oklahoma, USA. This wind energy farm sits over 7,500 acres of agricultural and grazing land, provides enough clean energy to power 46,000 homes, and each year saves the planet from nearly 225,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide. Dempsey Ridge was able to help us as a business offset 19,205 (mt of C02e).
REDUCE
While offsetting our emissions is a good first step, we want to do more. So in addition to offsetting 100% of our emissions, we are working to actively reduce our emissions internally and throughout our supply chain. To hold us accountable, we set science-aligned targets to keep the global temperature rise below 1.5°C.
While these goals are big, we’re excited about this next chapter in our journey to becoming a more sustainable brand and we are dedicated to putting in the work to meet these reduction targets and continue to grow our business sustainably.
