VUORI VIBES: the athletes, artists, and adventurers that inspire us, drive us and compel us to live fully.
We recently had the pleasure to have a chat with one of our favorite Influencers, Pat Millin. Pat is a Professional Surfer, Stuntman, Adventure Traveler, Actor, Model and Father. You might recognize him from our images both online and in catalogs. And soon you will recognize him from the big screen! He is doing big things and inspiring us along the way.
Hi Pat! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to sit down with us and catch up.
My absolute pleasure
What are you up to these days? We heard you just recently moved to NYC? Is that for a new role? Congrats?
Been a crazy ass year to say the least ... Training, acting classes, working, not working, trying to work, moving around, traveling etc. Priority number one is my daughter and the time I get to spend with her. Anything else is a bonus!
As far as NYC goes... I can't divulge too much information about the show but it's a period piece starring James Franco. Couldn't be happier and grateful for the opportunity to come out east and polish my acting chops in one of the greatest cities on the planet.
When you're busy filming what are the top things you miss about being home in California?
My daughter, Yoga tropics, and burritos.
Who were the most influential people in your life growing up?
My big brother Mike, Scott Sullivan, Tim Swart, Mirko Mangum, Bruce Irons, Andy Irons, Rob Machado, John Cardiel, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hardy.
How do you stay fit with your busy schedule?
Honestly I just try to keep moving... I'm not into manufactured workouts... I'll jump on my skateboard for an hour, surf, run, yoga. I love to incorporate nature and the fact that it will interact with me. I feel the need to be fully immersed in whatever it is that I'm doing so I can get out of my mind and into my body.
You are into so many things, Professional Surfer, Stuntman, Adventure Travel, Actor, Model. Of all the jobs you have which are you most stoked on?
Yes I do love them all and am very fortunate to have so many experiences... The one I'm most fired up on is acting! Ever since I could remember I've had an interest in becoming an actor. There's been an overwhelming pull or intuition over the years to seek that out. I finally got enough courage to listen to my heart, trusting in the universe to guide and provide me with what I needed along the way. So happy I did cause things are starting to happen.
What is your favorite past time with your daughter? By the looks of your IG you guys have a blast and she loves spending time with her pops!
My favorite pass time would be surfing with her. She's absolutely terrified when I take her out but she trusts me. She'll wrap her arms around my neck whilst I wear her like a tiny cape... We have fun but I also get to help her overcome fear. It's the best! We caught some bombs a few weeks back surfing seaside right off the boil.
What do you do to disconnect and recharge your mental batteries?
I'll squeak in five to ten minute mini meditation sessions throughout the day.
What is your favorite Vuori clothing item and why?
Vuori Rip-Stop Climber Pant, They're so dam versatile. You can wear them out to dinner or hike in the Himalayas.
Where are some of the most interesting places you've surfed?
I've surfed places like Norway, Russia, Faroe Islands, New Foundland, Tonga, Fiji, Tahiti which are all remote and unique. The most interesting place would be underneath the Golden gate bridge in San Francisco. It's a trip to be surfing in one of the largest ports/shipping lanes on the planet. There are huge mega tankers cruising by every twenty minutes or so barely passing underneath the bridge. You get an overwhelming sense of what humans can engineer and accomplish. Oh and the fact it has one of the largest white shark populations adds to the experience.
Where would the next dream surf destination be on your list?
I've always wanted to go to Chile
What kind of diet do you try to keep these days?
Super inconsistent in this area.. I'll eat salads and water for a week then go on a cookie/doughnut bender, Getting better with diet though. I stick to white meats, fish, veggies/fruit. No alcohol or drugs! I stopped eating Beef 1.5 years ago, which has really been helpful for eliminating crap food from my diet.

We have a saying at Vuori called "The Rise. The Shine." Which to us means rising to the occasion to meet your goals and then the feeling you get when you accomplish them. That could mean climbing a mountain or simply getting to a yoga class. What is one goal on your horizon that you are reaching for?
To be healthy and happy no matter what is going on outside of myself... Oh and to book supporting role in a feature film in 2018
